It can be installed onto poles, underneath a pergola, or over the top of a pergola. There is always a permanent frame or permanent poles with a gearbox operated roofing system that opens and shuts. The shade is designed and manufactured the exact same way as a gearbox curtain except it is installed horizontally rather than vertically.
